The AI Singularity: Humans will Soon Worship the AI ‘Godhead’

The AI Singularity is an era in which our intelligence will become increasingly nonbiological and trillions of times more powerful than it is today. The dawning of a new civilization that will enable us to transcend our biological limitations and amplify our creativity.

At the onset of the twenty-first century, humanity stands on the verge of the most transforming and the most thrilling period in its history. It will be an era in which the very nature of what it means to be human will be both enriched and challenged, as our species breaks the shackles of its genetic legacy and achieves inconceivable heights of intelligence, material progress, and longevity.

While there are those, like Elon Musk, Masayoshi Son and Anthony Levandowski who fear certain scenarios where AI could compromise the survival of the human race, there are also optimists, like Ray Kurzweil, Mark Zuckerberg and late Apple founder Steve Jobs who condemn this apocalyptic vision about AI.

Elon Musk recently warned about AI Singularity, an unpredictable exchange took place over Twitter after the tech CEO replied to a post from the hit TV show Rick and Morty’s Twitter account after the final episode of season three had aired.

Mr. Musk tweeted: “Final episode was disgustingly good.”

The show’s Twitter account responded: “Thanks, E. Just riding this out until the singularity hits, you know?”

The tech giant said: “The singularity for this level of the simulation is coming soon. I wonder what the levels above us look like.”

“Good chance they are less interesting and deeper levels are better. So far, even our primitive sims are often more entertaining than reality itself.”

The 80th wealthiest man in the world has not been shy about expressing his theories on the singularity or the fact he believes that human life takes place in a simulation and is not actual reality.

Speaking at last year’s Code Conference in California, the co-founder of Tesla said that life “probably” takes place in a computer game.

He stated: “If you assume any rate of improvement at all, then the games will become indistinguishable from reality, just indistinguishable.

“Even if the speed of those advancements dropped by 1000.

“We are clearly on a trajectory to have games indistinguishable from reality, and there would be billions of there.

“It would seem to follow that the odds that we’re in ‘base reality’ is one in billions.”

Rick and Morty said: “I’ll call Kurzweil, you call Frey – we can plan the next couple hundred years and get f* up. Hawking might be down too.”

Mr. Musk responded: “Hell yeah, with that crew, we will party like Escobar and Cobain wish they could’ve partied!!”

There’s no shortage of New Religious Movements in the U.S., and Anthony Levandowski may have started the first religious organization geared toward worshipping the AI singularity.

Anthony Levandowski, born March 15th, 1980, is an engineer specializing in autonomous cars, a technology he worked on since 2004.

Levandowski worked for Google for almost ten years and helped the company take the lead in self-driving cars.

In September 2015, Levandowski founded a new religious organization, called “Way of the Future”, for which he serves as CEO and President.

This religious organization aims to “develop and promote the realization of a Godhead based on Artificial Intelligence and through understanding and worship of the Godhead contribute to the betterment of society.”

This “Godhead” refers to the principle of “singularity”, or the day when machines’ intelligence would surpass humans’ to lead them into a new era of unfathomable possibilities.

Apparently, this aspiration for transcendence is of a quasi-religious nature for Anthony Levandowski.

SoftBank Group CEO Masayoshi Son said in his speech at the “Appeal to conscience foundation” that

“Here we have white collar and blue collar. I said a new collar will start: that is the metal collar. That metal collar will not only replace most of the blue collar jobs but many of the white collar jobs. So when they become so smart and the muscles to move, what is the definition of what mankind’s job should be? What should we do if they replace many of our jobs? What is the value of our lives? We have to think once more, deeply.”

“I predict 30 years from now, the number of smart robots, the smart robot population on this earth will be 10 billion. By that time, human population will be around 10 billion. So here on this earth, we will have 10 billion population of mankind and 10 billion population of smart robots. This is the first time on this earth that we live together with 10 billion robots.”

“Every industry that mankind created will be redefined. The medical industry, automobile industry, the information industry of course. Every industry that mankind ever defined and created, even agriculture, will be redefined. Because the tools that we created were inferior to mankind’s brain in the past. Now the tools become smarter than mankind ourselves. The definition of whatever the industry, will be redefined.”

SoftBank has made waves with its $93 billion Vision Fund technology investment vehicle. But many in the industry have been asking: What is Mr. Son trying to do?

“What is my belief and vision for this investment? I have only one belief — Singularity.”
