AS IF he doesn’t have enough to celebrate this year after welcoming twins with wife Amal earlier this month, George Clooney has now sold his tequila company Casamigos for a whopping $1 billion.
George, 56 – who started the brand with Rande Gerber and Mike Meldman back in 2013 – has sold it to British beverage company Diageo, the actor’s publicist confirmed to Express.co.uk.
George said in a statement: ”If you asked us four years ago if we had a billion dollar company, I don’t think we would have said yes.
“This reflects Diageo’s belief in our company and our belief in Diageo. But we’re not going anywhere.
“We’ll still be very much a part of Casamigos. Starting with a shot tonight. Maybe two.”
The publication also claimed that Diageo will initially pay $700 million, with the potential for another $300 million based on the tequila’s performance over 10 years.
George’s latest news comes after Amal gave birth to girl and boy twins.
Amal, 39 – who kept details regarding the due date on the down low – welcomed her son Alexander and daughter Ella into the world, with their spokesperson joking at the time that George “was currently sedated”.
Stan Rosenfield said: ”This morning Amal and George welcomed Ella and Alexander Clooney into their lives.
“Ella, Alexander and Amal are all healthy, happy and doing fine. George is sedated and should recover in a few days.”
